Studio Tour - Title Image | Planq Studio

My studio has evolved quite substantially. It resides in the third bedroom in the “South Wing,” as I have affectionately named this half of the house. This room started as an office for both my husband and me to work in, but it quickly turned into a storage room, housing all our clutter and things that didn’t have a home for anywhere else. Here are a few frightful images from that time in our lives:

Did I hear a lot of “oh dears” and “oh mys” coming from you out there? If yes, my sentiments exactly!

Mr. M would love to get his paws on this room and make it a man cave, but seeing as my happiness is more important than his, I overruled the man cave and the old office is now my studio.

This studio is a haven for all my design and craft projects. It’s a creative space where I can spread out my “creativity” (that’s code for “mess”), so I don’t have to clear the dining table every time we have comp’ny over.

There’s still a lot of things I want to do to this space before I can really call it complete. There are new built-ins that need to be painted, some furniture that needs to be made over and labeling to do. But for now, it’s well functional.

The pen/colored pencil/Sharpie/highlighter wall! Now I can find any appropriate writing instrument I need in a flash. Being organized is so crucial for a creative mind. Ha!

I also made sure to carve out a bit of space for my gift wrap storage. Shallow picture ledges from Ikea were used to fulfill that purpose.

Having prop storage in my studio is a DIY blogger necessity! It also doubles as a butler’s pantry of sorts. I pretty much store any big platter, pretty dish, glass jar, tray and interesting doodad in here. It’s a great go-to spot for any around-the-house decorating that needs to be done.

Before signing off, let’s have a final look at a before and after:

That pretty much concludes this tour. Thanks for stopping in for a visit. We’ll have to craft together next time you swing by!
