The Floral Crown Tutorial

One of the many delights we inherited when we bought this house was the single vine of jasmine in our backyard. During the redesign of our exteriors, the landscaper found a new home for this jasmine by planting it at the base of the newly relocated magnolia tree and wrapping it around the trunk. Even though only a handful of flowers bloomed that first year, the scent was still heavenly!

Now, two seasons later, this little vine has flourished and the magnolia trunk is covered in these intoxicating flowers. There are more than enough to have fresh flowers in our home for days. Yet, I wanted to try something different with the jasmine, so I made a floral crown out of them.

This can easily be hung as a wreath on your door or used as a dining table centerpiece. It would also make a gorgeous wedding accessory in your hair. It is beautiful no matter where you place it. This floral crown is so easy to make that you can even have several in your home.

Supply List

• Wire
• Wire cutters
• Floral tape
• Flowers with long stems

Step-by-Step

Step 1
Cut a length of wire that measures the circumference of your head and wrap it with floral tape.

TIP: The tape can be loosely wrapped at this stage because you’ll be wrapping over it in the next step.

Step 2
Adhere one branch or stem of your flower to the wire by wrapping with floral tape. Continue all the way around until flowers have completely covered the wire ring. Then wear with pride, my friend!

Big thanks to my friend, Shelli, for being a willing model of my floral crown. She wears it beautifully, don’t you think?

Her precious son wants to foray into the modeling world, too! He is a complete natural.

Shelli, your baby is perfection! For more photos and stories about Shelli and her son, Langdon, pop on over to her blog, How’s It Going, Eh?.

Next time, I think I’ll make this with lavender and sage. Wouldn’t that make a lovely combination? What flowers would you use in your floral crown?
